MFH Horses

by admin

Spent the afternoon  treating five horses belonging to one of the masters of our local hunt, The Grafton.

MFH or Master of Foxhounds sounds very grand doesn’t but it in reality they are like the manager of a football team! The Quorn Hunt MFH might equate to Sir Alex Ferguson and The Grafton perhaps to Brighton and Hove Albion! Though the football boys get paid and an MFH doesn’t!

Meet some of the team

by admin

Sandy was bred here on the farm. He won a maiden point to point at Garthorpe in a very fast time and was rated 5th best in the country for his generation. How ever breathing problems curtailed his racing career and he has been eventing for the last 2 or three years.

I only rode him in one race, three fences from home I  was wondering how far I would win! Then he couldn’t get enough oxygen and I had to pull him up straight away. A real shame but racehorses are fragile.

Lillingstone Lovell Hall Para Olympics

by admin

Just back from Julie Daleys yard. A beautiful place with lovely horses.

Andrew the vet from Buckingham Equine was there to sedate 3 of the young horses. All routine dentistry except one who had a 109 molar slab fracture extracted 6 months ago. This has improved massively and he is riding much better now.

Julie is hoping to make the British Para Olympic team, visit this site to get an idea of what she is up to  http://www.lillingstone.co.uk/

Tractor troubles

by admin

The radiator of my John Deere tractor is at the doctors having new coils fitted so work on my four acre asparagus field is on hold. Didn’t know you could repair radiators but dialarad tell me they can!

by admin

Westbury in Northamptonshire is not a famous cider producing area yet! But on Saturday the village came together for our second annual cider making session.

Net result 1000 pints of cider!
